2045/d Ceiling Light by Studio B.B.P.R for Arteluce, Italy, 1962

Designed in 1962 by Studio BBPR (Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti, Ernesto Nathan Rogers) for Arteluce, the Model 2045 Ceiling Light is a hallmark of mid-century Italian design. It reflects BBPR’s rationalist philosophy, blending architectural precision with modernist elegance.

Crafted from black lacquered aluminum and frosted or acid-etched prismatic glass diffusers, the Model 2045 emits a soft, diffused glow, ideal for residential and commercial spaces. Praised in a 1963 Domus review for its adaptability, custom versions illuminated prestigious sites like Milan’s Castello Sforzesco and the Hispano-Olivetti showroom in Barcelona.

Produced by Arteluce, this model bears the original manufacturer’s label. In excellent vintage condition with minimal wear, it has been rewired for contemporary use. The Model 2045 stands as a rare and significant example of Italian modernist design, highly valued by collectors for its historical and aesthetic significance.
