Lampione Floor Lamp by Fabio Lenci for Guzzini, 1970s
Designed in 1968 by Fabio Lenci for Guzzini, Lampione was the result of an earlier experience when Lenci worked with a new type of Polyurethane foam- Baydur, which allowed you to make pure and simple but also very special shapes. Baydur is especially suitable to use outdoor and is light and water resistant so when he designed this lamp Lenci expected the lamp would be used outdoors, in a garden or along a path, hence the name “Lampione” (streetlamp). The sculptural steel frame is coated in black polyurethane and the shade is made from frosted Lucite. This black edition is very rare and stands impressively over 2 metres high. When asked in an Interview if he could choose one of his lamps to go into production again Lenci answered… “Nice question! Well, like I said I’m not in love with my own products. I am in love with people who love my products. But if I would have the possibility I would choose “Lampione”. Dim: H 211 cm x W 120 cm x D 36 cm.
