Ole Wancher was born in 1903 in Copenhagen. He was an Architect and professor of Architecture with furniture designs his speciality.
He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under and eventually worked for the master Kaare Klint before becoming and Independent Architect, specialising in furniture design
In the late forties to the early sixties, Ole created his best known pieces and his finest work was produced in close collaboration with renowned cabinetmakers. Wanscher's work has been called "delicate", "elegant", and "orderly".
One of Wanscher's best known designs is the “teak easy chair” designed for France & Son in 1951.
In 1958 the Danish Newspaper wrote the following about the quality and spirit of Ole Wanscher’s products “Owning a Wanscher-chair is and adventure every day, and will be so even several hundred years from now, for this is how long it lasts.”
